Green design and construction requires a holistic approach to development and results in a significant reduction in the negative environmental impact associated with traditional development. In addition, green design reduces operating costs, enhances building marketability, helps create sustainable communities and, studies suggest, increases occupant productivity. As our cities become more and more populated, and natural resources become more and more scarce, “going green” seems like nothing more than common sense. Unfortunately, not all developers think and act that way, which makes it that much more important to support those developers who do.
